Richard has been a lifelong driver. He was diagnosed with spina bifida at birth but that never stopped him from any challenge. However, in his retirement years, Richard began experiencing lower leg spasms and difficulty controlling his feet. Concerned about his ability to drive safely, he reached out to us at DriveRx, hoping to regain his independence with hand controls.
Today, Richard is back on the road, enjoying something he hadn’t done in a long time-“going on a joyride! No mission, no destination, just fun.” -Richard

Client Success Story: Jim’s Journey to Regaining Independence
Jim came to DriveRx after experiencing difficulty driving due to a lack of sensation and coordination in his feet. As the primary driver in his household, this made driving not only challenging but also unsafe. With the unwavering support of his family—who were instrumental in navigating the complexities of the RMV—Jim was able to regain his independence. Today, Jim confidently drives using hand controls, a transformation that has given him back the freedom he once feared he’d lost. Jim is using right side push-pull hand controls.

From Passenger to Driver: Fred’s Success with DriveRx
At 83 years young, Fred recently regained his independence after spending a year as a passenger in his wife Dorothy’s car. When he came to DriveRx, he had one goal in mind: to drive again after a medical condition impacted his ability to safely drive using his lower extremities. After a few months of training, Fred has learned to drive using hand controls and passed his MA RMV licensure test. He has a new, regained independence. In his own words, “You’ve made a difference for Dorothy and me.”

Eric's Journey to Driving Independence
After sustaining a spinal cord injury in a traumatic accident, Eric sought out the services of the DriveRx Adaptive Driving Program. Following three years of intensive rehabilitation and adapting to a new way of life, Eric has successfully regained his driving independence. We are deeply grateful for the trust Eric placed in DriveRx to help him achieve his driving goals. His resilience and determination are truly inspiring!
