Why We Started DriveRx

After years of working in the large hospital systems and in conjunction with other driving schools, we realized that the only way to be able to offer the highest quality services at the most affordable price was to do it on our own. Being a combined private practice and fully licensed driving school allows us to offer the full spectrum of clinical driving rehabilitation services, assuring that you have consistency throughout the process. We pride ourselves on being able to offer a more personalized approach while affording our clients the adequate time and support they need during an often nerve-racking process.

Who do we work with?

Medically Complex/Older Adults

While this is not an exhaustive list, we commonly see:

  • Older adults with age-related medical conditions such as arthritis, neuropathy, vision changes, and cardiopulmonary conditions
  • Adults with cognitive impairments/dementia
  • Clients with neurological conditions, including but not limited to post-stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis
  • Those returning to driving after a hospitalization

Adaptive Driving Clients

Our vehicle is equipped with adaptive driving equipment including a variety of hand controls, steering devices, and a left foot accelerator. Our clientele includes but is not limited to individuals with:

  • Peripheral neuropathy or other sensory loss
  • Neurological conditions impacting upper/lower limb function (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis, post-stroke, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury)
  • Amputations/prosthetics

Neurodiverse New Drivers

Our potential to drive clients are those with varying learning profiles seeking to assess their ability to safely operate a vehicle. Some of these clients include those with:

  • Autism spectrum
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Nonverbal learning disorder (NVLD)
  • Learning disabilities
