About Amanda Holt

Amanda Holt is an Occupational Therapist, Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (DRS), and Professional Driving Instructor (PDI) specializing in comprehensive driving evaluations, adaptive driving, and readiness-to-drive assessments. She works with individuals whose medical, neurological, cognitive, visual, or functional needs may affect their ability to drive safely and independently.

Experience & Education

Amanda earned her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in 2017. Since graduating, she has worked with people of all ages across the continuum of care, including acute hospital settings and outpatient rehabilitation.

Amanda also gained extensive driver rehabilitation experience through the Drive Safe Program at Newton-Wellesley Ambulatory Care Center, where she worked with individuals experiencing a variety of medical and functional challenges that could affect safe driving.

Her background across multiple rehabilitation settings gives Amanda a broad perspective on the physical, cognitive, visual, and functional abilities involved in driving.

Neurological Rehabilitation & Functional Vision

Amanda has advanced training and experience in neurological rehabilitation and functional vision. She applies this expertise to driver rehabilitation by considering how changes in areas such as vision, cognition, coordination, processing, and functional performance may affect a person’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.

At Drive-Rx, Amanda uses an individualized approach to help clients better understand their driving abilities, identify areas that may benefit from additional training, and determine an appropriate path forward.

Her practice areas include:

  • Comprehensive Clinical Driving Evaluations
  • Adaptive Driving Evaluation and Training
  • Readiness-to-Drive Assessments
  • Executive Function and Mobility Coaching
  • Educational Talks and Community Presentations

Supporting Safe Driving and Independence

Amanda understands that driving represents much more than transportation for many people. It can provide independence, access to work and school, connection with family and friends, and the ability to participate more fully in the community.

When driving is a safe and appropriate goal, Amanda works with clients to identify strengths, address challenges, and develop practical strategies that support safer and more independent driving.

She also recognizes that there are circumstances in which continuing to drive may no longer be the safest option. In those situations, Amanda is sensitive to the impact that decision can have on both the individual and their loved ones. She is committed to helping clients understand their options and maintain access to their community and the places they need and want to go.
